In 2016, Azahara played in 3 LET tournaments which included a superb performance in her home country to win the Andalucia Costa Del Sol Open de Espana Femenino. Azahara also secured a T17 finish at the Ricoh Women’s British Open.
In 2015, Azahara played in 3 LET tournaments and had her best finish of the season at the Lacoste Ladies Open de France, where she came T7.
Azahara, represented Europe at the 2015 Solheim Cup hosted at Golf Club St. Leon-Rot, and played in 3 matches.
In 2014, Azahara played in 5 LET events and successfully defended her Lacoste Ladies Open de France title at Golf de Chantaco.
In 2013, Azahara played in only four tournaments on the LET but she made a huge impression at the Lacoste Ladies Open de France when she collected her second LET title at Chantaco in Aquitaine. She fired rounds of 68, 65, 68 and 65 to end on 266, a stroke ahead of Frenchwomen Gwladys Nocera and Valentine Derrey. Azahara was also a member of the first European team to win The Solheim Cup in the United States and this was her second straight win in The Solheim Cup from as many appearances. Partnering Karine Icher, she won her day one foursomes match against Cristie Kerr and Paula Creamer and partnering fellow Spaniard Carlota Ciganda, memorably won the day two four-balls one-up against Gerina Piller and Angela Stanford to ensure a European white-wash on Saturday afternoon. She posted a 2-2-0 win-loss-draw record for a 4-3-1 career record with 4 ½ total points scored.
In 2012, played 4 LET events with a season-best T3rd at the Lacoste Ladies Open de France. Season’s earnings: €60,059.19 (48). On the LPGA, played 26 events, 22 cuts made, $1,230,751 (8), 9 top-10 finishes, 4 top-5 finishes. Became a Rolex First-Time Winner at the 2012 Sybase Match Play Championship. She was the only Spaniard to finish in the top-20 in the Rolex Rankings, listed at 16th. Crossed the $1 million and $2 million mark in career earnings this year, after a T15 at the Kraft Nabisco Championship and T14 at the Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia.
In 2011, played in three Ladies European Tour events and finished 2nd at the Ladies Irish Open at Killeen Castle. On the LPGA, tied for 2nd at the Sunrise LPGA Taiwan Championship, finished 3rd at the Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia and tied for 8th at the Wegman’s LPGA Championship. Member of the victorious European Solheim Cup Team at Killeen Castle in Ireland and earned a 1-1-1 record with 1 ½ points. Beat Angela Stanford in the singles by 1 hole.
In 2010, her rookie season on the LET, played in 7 LET events and posted two top-10 finishes: tied for 8th at the AIB Ladies Irish Open and tied for 10th at the Handa Women’s Australian Open. Finished 20th on the Henderson Money List with season’s earnings of €96,633.44. On the LPGA, was named Louise Suggs Rolex Rookie of the Year after tying for fourth at the Bell Micro LPGA Classic; tied for 11th at the LPGA Championship Presented by Wegmans and the Evian Masters Presented by Société Générale; tied for 16th at the ShopRite LPGA Classic; tied for 17th at the Sybase Match Play Championship; tied for 19th at the U.S. Women’s Open and the RICOH Women’s British Open.
In 2009, Muñoz turned professional in September and shot to prominence by winning the Madrid Ladies Masters on her professional debut on the Ladies European Tour (LET) in early October. She defeated LPGA Major Champion and former Sun Devil Anna Nordqvist with an eagle three at the par five18th in a play-off after both players had tied. Muñoz is also a first year member of the LPGA Tour.
A member of the Spanish National Team, Muñoz enjoyed a successful amateur career, winning the 2002 Spanish Amateur Championship and finishing runner-up at the 2008 U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship. She won the British Women’s Amateur championship at Royal St. David’s in June 2009, defeating fellow Spaniard Carlota Ciganda in the final. At Arizona State University, Muñoz was the 2009 NCAA Individual National Champion, as she led the Sun Devils to the team National Championship as well. As a junior, Muñoz represented Europe on the Junior Solheim Cup Team in 2002, 2003 and 2005.
