Last year she enjoyed her most successful season ever with six top-10 finishes, including two second places, from 20 events, adding up to season’s earnings of €126,958.

She hopes to bag her first win this season and to finish the year ranked in the top ten on the New Star Money List. A place on The Solheim Cup team is also within her sights. “I have to play very well to get into the team, but you never know in golf. I will try my best. If I make it this year then it would be great. If I don’t, I will try again in two years.”

European skipper Alison Nicholas can take only 12 players to Rich Harvest Farms in Illinois in August, yet Elosegui is well placed to earn her spot in the squad. The top five from the LET standings will earn a place on the team following the Ricoh Women’s British Open on 2nd August and Elosegui is currently ranked eighth on that list. Four players will also qualify from the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings, and the Captain will have three picks.

As a rookie on the LPGA Tour with conditional status, Elosegui will have some opportunities to play in America this year. “I am going to play mainly in Europe but if we have a week off and I get into a tournament in the States I will go and play,” she said. She has decided to focus on Europe to concentrate on winning and making sure she qualifies for The Solheim Cup, which will be music to Nicholas’ ears.
