(SUZHOU, CHINA – 30th October 2009) — Julieta Granada from Paraguay stormed into contention with a hole-in-one at the third hole at the Suzhou Taihu Ladies Open.

Using a six-iron, Granada sank her first shot at the 153-yard par three at Suzhou Taihu International Golf Club, moving from level to two-under-par after 12 holes played.

It was the 14th hole-in-one on the Ladies European Tour this year. There were 14 last year.

Granada, 23, earned a US$1 million pay cheque when she won the 2006 ADT Championship as a rookie on the LPGA Tour and also won the 2007 Women’s World Cup of Golf in South Africa with Celeste Troche.

She has recorded two holes in one on the LPGA Tour: firstly in the final round at the 2006 Florida’s Natural Championship presented by Nancy Lopez and secondly during the final round of the Safeway International Presented by Coca Cola.
