American Laura Diaz

US Team captain, Betsy King
Q. How did you feel things were going today?
King: Well, we’re not quite sure the rest of the morning, but all of them have been pretty close. The weather is a little bit tough, but both teams are handling it well.

Q. And you feel your partnerships are working out pretty well?
King: Pretty well. I think they are for the most part. You know, we have our lineup for the afternoon and then obviously…I don’t know if it’s been announced. I know we had to turn it in — starting out with Pat and Brittany going out, and, you know, I don’t remember who they’re, playing against because I just heard the European side once. Pat has got a little bit of a short turnaround. She and Christie played tough this morning, so we’ll see what happens.

Q. What did you think about the last match?
King: Yeah, I’m sure Natalie and Morgan are a little bit disappointed they haven’t done a little bit better, and obviously Maria played well and Gladys. So, you know, it’s going to be tough the whole way. It will be. I thought it would be, and it’s turning out that way.

Paula Creamer and Juli Inkster, US
Q. You guys played pretty well today. Happy?
Inkster: We did. We hit a lot of fairways and greens. We had a lot of long putts for par, but we knew going out that pars are going to be good on alternate shot.

Q. How do you feel playing together?
Inkster: I didn’t like it much.

Q. You had trouble with this one?
Inkster: We were very comfortable with each other.

Q. Do you think you’ll be playing again?
Creamer: We have a lot of momentum, but at the same time, we have to do what we have to do for the team.

Q. How did you feel about the crowds?
Creamer: They were great.

Maria Hjorth and Gwladys Nocera, Europe
Q. What was the turning point? The up and down at the 12th which you parred, and the US team bogeyed?
Hjorth: Yeah. That definitely helped because we lost 11, the par 5. But, you know, getting up and down on 12 was really, really huge, and just to make that putt, you know, that’s the best. It was a turning point.

Q. Obviously so much between your last Solheim Cup appearance and this one.
Hjorth: Yeah, of course. It’s less because you did it before and you’re expecting things.

Q. Wasn’t much in the way of encouragement for you with the group ahead of you. Were you aware of that?
Hjorth: Yeah. I mean, we look at it. Hopefully we had our numbers coming up. We have to do something. It’s nice to see the top match go on and get a half there, so it’s good.

Q.You’re playing again this afternoon, are you able to carry that form on?
Nocera: I don’t know. I have no idea. Am I playing? I hadn’t heard.

Q. You must be feeling really confident now. You’re playing really, really well.
Nocera: I did okay. Didn’t make any big mistakes, which is the main point. Of course, you have to play well, but if you don’t make any mistakes on the course like that, it’s good. So I don’t know really if I’m playing.

Q. Did you ask specifically to play with Maria?
Nocera: Yeah, we talked about it. I didn’t ask. I said I’d be happy to play with her and enjoy playing with her. The captain listened to us, and I think Maria wanted to play with me, too.

Q. You work well together.
Nocera: Yeah, I think we do. Maria is a great person, and she’s good with shorter irons. Our chemistry is great. I know I can miss a shot and green. She can chip in so it makes sure she comes through.

Q. Playing with Maria as well, playing in front of the home fans, it must have really helped you to hear so many people cheering.
Hjorth: Lot of people behind us, French people, and she’s great. I mean, she’s awesome.

Q. You know the French supporters personally?
Nocera: My family and sister is here and some really good friend of mine, so it’s really good.

Pat Hurst and Cristie Kerr, US
Q. How did it go after the beginning?
Hurst: Kind of at the end it was a little bit tough. We got a half point. That’s all that matters.

Q. How important was it to get off to a good start?
Hurst: We’re not — what is this foursomes, what are we playing? Foursomes, we don’t usually get off to a good start with that. Every little point that we can get is huge for us so, you know, we squeaked in a half point, and that was big for us.

Q. Okay. Give me some highlights of the match.
Hurst: Highlights of the match. We started off birdie, birdie, and I think this was key for us.

Q. How is everything?
Kerr: I’m making everything that I’m looking at.
