The LET Rookies playing in the Estrella Damm Mediterranean Ladies Open in Spain participated in a Sponsorship and Player Management workshop.
The educational session was delivered by Ivan Corretja and Anna Arrese from Double Match, a Barcelona-based sports management agency which represents many successful international athletes such as Xavi Hernández (FC Barcelona world champion), Gemma Mengual (Olympic Synchronised swimmer) and Carlota Ciganda (professional golfer).
Ivan and Anna shared information and advice with the LET Rookies to help them make informed career decisions as professional golfers. Ivan explained that women golfers are part of a large, male-dominated sports industry, which means that they need to work even harder to achieve strong results on the golf course and to create an authentic image. Part of the session included a discussion on perception and how important it is to create an image that represents the player, communicating their own unique story.
The rookie session formed part of the Ladies European Tour’s ‘LET’s Get Ready’ element of the organisation’s development strategy, which is designed to support new players joining the tour for the first time. This was the second educational workshop of the season, following the media training in Morocco. The sessions are designed to help give Rookies a solid start on the LET and continue the education which began with the four-day Rookie Orientation Days which took place in Spain in January.
