Beth Allen is one of eight Ladies European Tour Members making their first appearance in the Evian Championship in France this week.
There are 35 LET Members in the field of 120 players representing 24 countries and those teeing up in the season’s final Major for the first time are Beth Allen of the United States, Nicole Broch Larsen from Denmark, Hannah Burke from England, Connie Chen of South Africa, Ssu-Chia Cheng of Chinese Taipei, Ariya Jutanugarn from Thailand, Su-Hyun Oh from Australia and Klara Spilkova from the Czech Republic.
Allen, who qualified by winning the ISPS HANDA Ladies European Masters at Buckinghamshire Golf Club in July, said: “I’ve always wanted to play in this. It’s not letting me down, it’s a beautiful place. The greens are pretty challenging, so I’ve got some practising to do! I want to do well but I’ll try not to have high expectations. I’ll keep doing what I’ve been doing because I’ve been playing solid all year. I’m just going to keep going and hopefully have a good week.”
Sophie Gustafson, who played in the Evian Championship in 2013 and finished second in the 2009 Evian Masters at the same venue before the course underwent changes, will continue to caddie for Allen, who added: “I think her experience is going to help.”
While Allen, Broch Larsen, Burke, Chen, Cheng and Oh qualified by winning on the Ladies European Tour over the last 12 months, Jutanugarn qualified from the LPGA Official Money List and Spilkova was second at the Evian qualifier three months ago.
