The 2019 European Solheim Cup Captain Catriona Matthew gave up her time during the build-up to the Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Open to give a clinic to female members of the United Arab Emirates National Golf Team.

The Emirates Golf Federation is investing in UAE nationals and encouraging women and girls to take up the game in their home country.

As an EGF Team member, the players are given free access to any golf course in the UAE and taken on international training camps. As further inspiration, several of the top female golfers were invited to play in the LET Pro-Am at Saadiyat Beach Club ahead of the inspirational family-themed event, taking place on November 1-4.

The lucky golfers from the local community who were given a special masterclass by the former Ricoh Women’s British Open and British Olympian included 10-handicappers Tara Al Mazooqi, 17, who won the GCC National Championship in Bahrain in February and Rima Heloo, 15, who are competing for a place in the 2018 Youth Olympic Games in Argentina, as well as Hamda Al Suwaidi, 32, who plays off 12.

Spearheading the golf drive is Shaikh Fahim Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, who was also playing in the Pro-Am, with Cheyenne Woods, on Tuesday afternoon.
